অস্থায়ী Osthayi
Osthayi (অস্থায়ী) , meaning “transience,” reflects a psychological state shaped by constant movement, where rest exists without settlement and memory resists permanence. In this condition, memory migrates into trees, objects, and sites encountered in passing. These elements become landmarks that offer orientation and brief relief without fixing experience in place.
Over the last three years of living nomadically, I have learned to pass through places without fully inhabiting them. To observe, adapt, and move on without leaving much behind. Within this way of being, landmarks function not as destinations but as moments of recognition within ongoing movement.
Within Bengali mythology, trees are often understood as resting places for wandering spirits. They hold presence temporarily rather than claim it. Osthayi reflects on how stillness can exist within motion, and how a sense of belonging can form without permanence.
