Sadak : Road to Revolution (2019-2021)

My understanding of documentation and movement started with my previous project, ‘Sadak’, where I witnessed a pivotal moment in Delhi’s history, as two of the largest protests since independence unfolded on its streets - the Citizenship Amendment Act 2020) and the Farmers' Protest (2021).

Sadak defines generational relation of revolution originating from the public road and how for the first time in a post colonial India we have once again reclaimed it as a means to be heard.

The act of instinctively grabbing my camera and recording these events, ended up shaping my sense of being in situations of constant change where the identity of the self was being questioned. I began to think of my own roots and history. Living on the streets over the next four months, understanding the imminent loss of citizenship of this marginalized community, I started thinking of my own history of generational displacement. I find myself returning to the archive, often through my work to ground my exploration of movement, migration, and identity.
